Real you

Who are you?

What makes you, you?

Do you know … are you still figuring it out?

As I approach the big 3-0 I have spent a lot of time reflecting on who I am, who I’ve become and everything I’ve gone through to get me here today.

I’m not sure anyone can say with 100% certainty that they are ……. or ……. . Life can change in an instant – – we are always evolving, changing and growing. But I can say that when you are okay on your own and have overcome hurdles that you thought would destroy you, life becomes more clear – – you quickly realize what’s important, what’s not, what you need, what you don’t and who should remain part of your world. As you eliminate and add to your life you realize it’s all your choice and it’s all up to you.

The real me is an optimist, a dreamer, happy, quiet, a deep thinker/nerd, loving, caring, always ready to help and learn and thrives off new adventures and enjoying natures beauty. I no longer have time for those who don’t see my value, who don’t have the same heart as me, who make judgements about me because of what “they see me as” and who aren’t nice long term. Life is meant to be lived and to be enjoyed and it is way too damn short to spend time with people who don’t reciprocate what you have give. I am proud of who I am, and a few years ago I would never have written this article because it may seem boastful but, today I am proud to say that I  am a  real, genuine, silly, driven, smart woman who knows what I want and will make it happen.

My biggest lesson this year has been that when you truly love yourself, your story, your highs and lows and can be grateful for what has shaped you – – the real you comes out, and shines. Don’t stop until you also feel this way, you will feel lighter and so free!
